Why I Believe Cash is King in 2022
These past two years have been horrible for most people. I know first hand of the struggle of graduating college and diving right into the worst economic recession I've seen in my life. I'm sure we all thought that 2022 was going to be your year to be the best you can be but look at what has happened in the early months of 2022. Covid has collapsed but a new tension is rising in Russia and Europe.
The Russia attack on Ukraine is horrible and it has been seen throughout the world and most leaders are helping ukraine fight a massive battle of a struggling country. We have seen large amounts of inflation hit the market. Oil has never been as high as it is now (over $130 a barrel), inflation is well above 7% and housing prices are so exponential that most cannot seem to grasp the notion of becoming a homeowner.
In the past few year I have been preaching that cash is trash and I still agree to an extent but now with the world facing massive inflation and really destroying the middle class. Now is best to hold your cash and wait for a rainy day. Ever Since the beginning of 2022 I have been trying to hold my cash and I even stopped investing my personal funds in a Roth IRA (I still invest through a 401k but that's another discussion).
Times are becoming harder and harder for many people to go out and enjoy life. I have had to cut back excessively on my spending and waiting for a green day to maybe take a break from stress and finally enjoy life as it is supposed to be lived.
Cash is said to be dying, but take it from a middle class citizen like myself and understand if you spend your cash now, the rich are going to become richer and the middle class (US) will be depleted of our money supply. It's unfortunate but the wealthy are preaching the wrong direction. This is America and greed has always bested us. Don't listen to them and be your own person.
That's it for today. Please check back on Tuesdays and Thursdays for new blogs.
